S. 2091/A. 3657, the child support bill, is now on Governor Paterson’s desk, awaiting his signature.

It is because of your advocacy that the bill got this far—passing both the Senate and Assembly.  Now we need you to urge the Governor to sign it into law.

Please call the Governor’s office at 518/474-8390 and ask him to make this bill a law!

S. 2091/A. 3657 eliminates the child support requirement in order to receive child care subsidies. The child support requirement currently prevents parents from accessing child care subsidies if they have not sought child support.
 
Winning Beginning NY recognizes that there are many reasons why a parent might not pursue a support order—including safety. Children should not suffer because of this requirement.
