TAKE ACTION

Dear friend,

Make a Call to Move the Bill!

Call Assembly Member Scarborough at 518/455-4451 and ask him to urge Assembly Speaker Silver to move the child support bill to the Active Calendar, so a vote can happen before session ends later this month.

Because of your advocacy, A. 3657, the child support bill, is now on the Assembly Floor Calendar.  Please call the bill’s sponsor, Assembly Member Scarborough, at 518/455-4451 and ask him to:

Urge Assembly Speaker Silver to move the bill to the Active Calendar so that the Assembly can vote on it before session ends later this month.

Then e-mail me at joconnor@scaany.org and let me know you’ve made the call.

A. 3657 would eliminate the child support requirement in order to receive child care subsidies.  The child support requirement currently prevents parents from accessing child care subsidies if they have not sought child support.

Winning Beginning NY recognizes that there are many reasons why a parent might not pursue a support order—including safety. Children should not suffer because of this requirement.  For more information on this issue, see our letter to Governor Paterson supporting elimination of the requirement.

Please take a minute and call Assembly Member Scarborough at 518/455-4451 TODAY!

Thanks for all you do.

Sincerely,

Jenn O’Connor
