TAKE ACTION

Dear friend,

Make Calls to Move the Bill!

Call Assembly Member  Wright at (518) 455-4793 and Giovanni Warren at (518) 455-4371 and ask them to place A. 3657 on the next Social Services Committee meeting agenda, before the Assembly can vote on it!

Your call made a difference!

Assembly Member Scarborough, Chair of the Children and Families Committee, has asked that advocates now make calls to Assembly Member Keith Wright, Chair of the Social Services Committee, and to Giovanni Warren at Assembly Program & Counsel, urging both to place A. 3657 on the next Social Services Committee meeting agenda.

A. 3657 would eliminate the child support requirement in order to receive child care subsidies. The child support requirement currently prevents parents from accessing child care subsidies if they have not sought child support.

Please take a minute and call Assembly Member Wright at (518) 455-4793 and Giovanni Warren at (518) 455-4371 TODAY! We need to get this bill on the Social Services Committee's agenda, before the Assembly can vote on it.

Winning Beginning NY recognizes that there are many reasons why a parent might not pursue a support order—including safety. Children should not suffer because of this requirement.  For more information on this issue, see our letter to Governor Paterson supporting elimination of the requirement.

Thank you for helping to move this legislation forward!

Sincerely,

Jenn O’Connor
