Dear VoteVets.org Supporter, We’ve come a long way, but we still have far to go. In 2006, when you supported Tim Walz, Joe Sestak, Chris Carney and me, you helped elect the first veterans of the Iraq/Afghanistan era to Congress. In 2008 you helped us elect a few more veterans, including John Boccerri, Gary Peters, Eric Massa, and Walt Minnick. Together, we’ve made a difference, and brought to Congress the credible voices needed to fight for a change of course in our foreign and military policies. When less than 25% of Congress has military experience, we need all the help we can get. That is why I am asking for your support for another great veteran candidate – Bill Owens. Bill is running in an important special election in central New York to fill the seat of Republican Representative John McHugh, who is vacating his seat to become Secretary of the Army. Bill served in the Air Force as a Captain, following a great tradition in his family. His great grandfather served in the Civil War, his uncle in World War I and his father served in World War II.
