Since 1976, more than 100 people have been wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death in the United States because:

**Incompetent, overwhelmed, and inexperienced lawyers are assigned to indigent defendants.

**Accused citizens lack access to DNA testing that could prove their innocence.

**And public defenders are often provided inadequate resources to pay for investigators and expert witnesses.

The problem is clear: our system of convicting and sentencing people to death is broken. The result:  people on trial for their lives are being deprived of a basic right-the right to a fair trial.

That's why I've signed up to receive information from The Justice Project's Campaign for Criminal Justice Reform. The Campaign includes a robust program of public education, training, grassroots organizing and media outreach.
