| I cannot thank you
enough for your continued support of TECEC. Thank
you for all your efforts and your voice!
As you may know already, TECEC asks it supporters just once a
year for a financial
contribution to our organization. As a coalition we
rely on the support our individual and organizational members to
fund a great deal of the work that we do to move high-quality
early care and education forward in Texas.
Your membership contribution will support our efforts in
making high quality early care and education a reality for all
young Texans. Just a few of our accomplishments over the
past year include:
- INCREASED INVESTMENTS during the 81st
Legislative Session, with more than $65 million infused into the
child care, Head Start, and public school pre-k systems in
Texas. In 2009, Texas was one of the only states in the
country that increased funding for early education.
- IMPROVED EARLY EDUCATION POLICIES passed
during the legislative session including increased training
hours; technology discounts; pre-k eligibility notification;
child care licensing and inspection requirements; and the
establishment of two child focused councils.
- INCREASED COMMUNICATION including nearly
20,000 messages sent to Texas policymakers; presentations in 30
Texas communities; an online bill tracking system; and webcasts
of important events. In order to provide these services, TECEC
must raise at least $20,000 a year for
communications.
- GREATER PARTICIPATION at Pre-K Day at the
Texas Capitol with more than 1,000 advocates, community leaders,
and children in attendance, and TECEC added over 1,000 new
members last year. TECEC provided nearly 300 travel
scholarships to this event.
- TEXAS SPECIFIC PUBLICATIONS including Community-Based
School Readiness Integration Partnerships: Promoting Sustainable
Collaborations (January 2009) and the McLennan County
Quality of Life Index (November 2009).
TECEC has high hopes for the future, and your
contribution does more than support us financially.
Contributing to TECEC sends an unmistakable message to
legislators and communities that Texans are committed to
building a high quality early education system in our state.
Your efforts and support make an incredible difference and
amplify the growing voice for early education in Texas. Thank
you so much for all you do for TECEC and our youngest Texans.
Sincerely,
Kara Johnson Executive Director
