Dear Friend, Colorado's 4.4 million acres of pristine forests are under attack. The State of Colorado recently proposed a new rule that would dramatically weaken the Roadless Area Conservation Rule that currently protects Colorado's wild forests. As a Coloradoan you have a chance to help save the wild forests in your state. But you don't have much time – Governor Ritter is only accepting comments through this Friday, October 2nd. Click here to send your message to Governor Ritter now. Since 2001, Colorado's wild forests have benefited from the protection of the Roadless Rule that has also protected 58.5 million acres of wild forests across the nation from road building, most logging, and other harmful development. Nationwide, these roadless forests contain premier fish and wildlife habitat, provide quality recreation opportunities, and drinking water for some 60 million Americans. But Governor Ritter's proposed new rule would allow previously roadless forests to be developed for pipelines, electric lines, dams, reservoirs and other water infrastructure. It would also allow 100 new oil and gas leases on 70,000 acres, and coal development on 29,000 acres of currently roadless forests. Now is your chance to speak up – tell Governor Ritter to abandon this destructive plan BEFORE October 2nd and help keep Colorado's forests pristine and wild. Please help spread the word about this urgent effort to protect our forests ASAP. Forward this message to all of your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers here in Colorado and ask them to join you in contacting the governor by Friday, October 2nd. Thank you again for defending Colorado's pristine forests. Sincerely,
Michael Town
