Save Our Environment
Congress Passed a Clean Energy Bill!

Thank you!

We have good news! Thanks to the action of thousands of activists like you,, Congress passed an Energy Bill that increases fuel economy standards for vehicles for the first time in over 30 years Unfortunately, the renewable electricity standard (a requirement that utilities produce 15 percent of their electricity through renewable energy sources) was not included.

However, this historic legislation will make America more energy independent, more secure, create thousands of new jobs, spark economic growth, save consumers money, cut pollution and make real progress to reduce carbon emissions warming the Earth. And you were a big part of that!

We'll keep you informed as future energy legislation moves forward, and let you know how you can help get us on the road to a cleaner, safer energy future. You can be sure that your contribution made a difference - thanks again!

(No more action is needed at this time).

Background Information

The House and Senate are working to marry their versions of energy legislation. With a 15 percent renewable electricity standard (RES) passed by the House, and a 35 mile-per-gallon by 2020 fuel economy target coming over from the Senate, we have the makings of something good.

House and Senate leadership deserve credit for their respective gains, but if the final bill is to achieve their goals of energy security, consumer relief and climate progress, they'll need to hold firm during the weeks ahead.

Here's more on the specific benefits of these provisions:
