Tell Congress to take action NOW on global warming!

This is the battle of the century! In preparation to stop progress on real energy and climate reform, ExxonMobil more than doubled its lobbying budget - from an average of $7 million per year to a staggering $14.5 million in 2006, a record high for the oil and gas industry.

If Congressional members are to withstand the pressure from ExxonMobil and other fossil fuel interests they need to hear from every single one of us!

ExxonMobil is lobbying against the exact energy and climate policies that we are working to put in place. We must raise our collective voices against this oil giant! We can't let Congress cave to industry's lobbying efforts and fail to create the changes we need to protect future generations.

Fill out the form below to urge your members of Congress to pass a global warming bill that protects us and our children from the worst effects of global warming and creates a new vibrant alternative energy sector.

Subject: I support strong action on global warming!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am deeply concerned about global warming and our nation's dependence on fossil fuels. During this critical time in determining the world's energy future, America must act as a world leader in order to solve this crisis. Many major corporations support mandatory cuts in global warming pollution and the public supports the creation of new jobs and a thriving alternative renewable energy sector.

I urge you to support strong legislation that recognizes the urgency of this problem and reduces our country's emissions enough to avert the worst effects of climate change. Please support climate and energy bills that:

* Reduce total U.S. global warming pollution by at least 80 percent by 2050 below 2000 levels including significant reductions by 2020. These cuts must be made to protect current and future generations.

* Eliminate loopholes, such as pollution "offsets," that create perverse incentives and erode gains made by actual pollution reductions.

* Oppose giveaways, such as free pollution "credits," to the oil, coal, and auto industries and other powerful interests, which remove the incentive for real change and innovation.

* Reject the development of unclean energy, such as nuclear power, tar sands, oil shale, or liquid coal, which trade one major problem for another.

Inevitably, a few companies will fight hard against change. ExxonMobil, for example, is the only oil giant still refusing to invest in renewable energy and directly funding groups that deny the science of global warming. In 2006, ExxonMobil doubled its lobbying expenditure from an average $7 million per year to $14.5 million - a record high for the oil and gas industry.

I am counting on your vote to protect future generations and withstand pressure from industry lobbyists. With brave leadership, our nation can stop and reverse the effects of global warming and create a clean, alternative renewable energy sector. Our nation has successfully faced enormous challenges before and with your help, will again.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
