Subject: Please Support the Universal Pre-Kindergarten Grant Program
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
Now more than ever, Massachusetts must invest its resources in policies that produce a strong return on taxpayers' investment.
Research demonstrates that high-quality early education is a sound economic development strategy that invests in human capital, improves health and well-being and increases academic achievement. The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis estimates that high-quality early education provides a 16% return on every dollar invested.
As you deliberate the Senate's version of the FY10 budget, I urge you to preserve and protect funding for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Grant Program (line item 3000-5075). As a UPK grantee, I have seen the positive impact of these resources on the children and families in my program.
I also ask that you please contact Senate President Therese Murray and Senate Ways and Means Chair Steven Panagiotakos and request their support for UPK.
Thank you for your leadership and support.
Sincerely,
|
