About FTTP and FiOS

In May 2004, Verizon began the first-ever large-scale deployment of fiber-optic technology to individual homes and businesses, replacing the copper wires that connect customers to the Verizon network today. Called fiber to the premises, or FTTP, the new technology delivers unprecedented speed and a totally new broadband experience. It provides the bandwidth and speed to make available an array of new services called FiOS: super-fast, high-speed Internet access, crystal-clear voice and a full-suite of video services.
