There is big news in the fashion world today: Gucci Group announced their commitment to protect Indonesia's rainforests and endangered forests worldwide! Gucci Group recently committed to eliminate all paper made from Indonesian rainforests and by controversial suppliers, notably Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) as a first step in implementing an industry-leading paper policy.
It is time to tell other fashion brands to step up and follow Gucci's lead.
Three weeks ago, I asked for your help to tell fashion and retail brands to stop doing business with some of Indonesia's worst rainforest destroyers, and your response was overwhelming! Thousands of people sent messages to Calvin Klein, Coach, Marc Jacobs, and Versace asking them to stop wrapping their products in paper shopping bags contributing to rainforest and climate destruction.
Due to your response, we know that these companies are feeling the heat to stop bagging Indonesia's forests. Versace has gotten back to us with indications that they do not want to be affiliated with Indonesian rainforest destruction, but still no word from Calvin Klein, Coach, or Marc Jacobs.
I need your help to tell these three companies that the fashion industry can make a difference by following Gucci Group's lead and making Indonesian rainforest protection the leading fall fashion trend.

Tell them to stop purchasing throwaway paper shopping bags from Asia Pulp and Paper and others who source from Indonesian and endangered forests and instead, to implement a paper policy that ensures they reduce their paper consumption and only use recycled or FSC certified paper.
