The National Day of Action to End Mountaintop Removal is fast approaching. On Friday, October 30th at 12:00 pm, we'll be meeting at 221 Pine St. in San Francisco to zombie march to the regional offices of the Environmental Protection Agency and various JPMorgan Chase branches along the way.
Join Mountain Justice, Energy Justice Network and Rainforest Action Network as we mobilize to end Mountaintop Removal.
Every day the tops of mountains across Appalachia are blown apart for small seams of dirty, unsustainable, climate-killing coal. Mountaintop removal coal mining has already demolished 500 mountains, buried thousands of miles of rivers, polluted drinking water, threatened numerous Appalachian communities and clear-cut thousands of acres of the world's most biologically diverse forests. Now is the time for our country to invest in a clean energy future and not continue to support the dirty energy of our past.
This is an American tragedy that you have the power to stop. Political decision-makers at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) need to hear from you. On the ground in Appalachia, coalfield communities and their allies have been taking action to stop mountaintop removal, now we need to bring their fight to D.C. where Obama's EPA has the power to abolish mountaintop removal coal mining once and for all.
We need you to join us in calling for an end to this atrocious practice. Please join us at the EPA regional office in San Francisco this Friday and thanks for all you do!
