Will ADM Sign the Rainforest Pledge?

Will ADM Sign the Rainforest Pledge?

Last week, the Rainforest Agribusiness campaign and children from around the world asked Patricia Woertz, the CEO of ADM, to sign a pledge to stop cutting down rainforests for biofuels. She refused.

Watch the video and then ask Patricia Woertz to stop destroying rainforests!

It is not too late for Patricia to sign the pledge.

Subject: Sign the Pledge!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am very concerned that you refused to sign the pledge that Rainforest Action Network presented you last week at the ECO:nomics conference in Santa Barbara. I would like to ask you to officially sign on to RAN's pledge, and to once and for all commit to halting all direct or indirect engagement with companies that destroy tropical rainforest ecosystems for industrial biofuels.

As you said in your response to Brihannala Morgan's question, sustainability of palm oil production is very important. I completely agree that there should be standards that ensure that palm oil production is not "involved with the rainforest" and is not "environmentally irresponsible" -- all things you said yourself.

As one of the most powerful agribusiness companies in the world, ADM can and should take steps beyond those set by national governments, and take a leading role in setting--and enforcing--those higher standards across the world.

As a major corporation, you have the power to ensure that palm oil production is environmentally and socially sustainable, and that palm oil plantations do not lead to rainforest destruction.

Please sign the Rainforest Action Network pledge today.

Thank you,
