Greetings,
Northstar Commuter Rail's spring construction season is
almost here, which means we're ready to break ground on the
Fridley station! Construction of Northstar's Fridley station
will be in full swing in the coming weeks. The station is
expected to be fully functional in time for the beginning of
Northstar service from Big Lake to downtown Minneapolis late
this year.
Reaching this milestone would have been impossible without
the leadership of the Counties Transit Improvement Board, Anoka
County and the City of Fridley - not to mention the
persistence of supporters like you. So we hope you can
help us break ground on your local Northstar
station at 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 3 at the Fridley station
site at East River Road and 61st Way NE.
Please RSVP by Monday, March 2.
The event will include remarks from local and state
officials. A public open house will follow from 5-7 p.m. at
Fridley City Hall, during which you can view
station information, artist renderings and learn about Fridley
and other project construction.
Construction of the previously deferred Fridley station will
be paid for with a $9.9 million grant from the Counties Transit
Improvement Board. When Northstar Commuter Rail begins service
late this year, commuters can buy their tickets and board
Northstar trains at stations in Big Lake, Elk River, Anoka, Coon
Rapids, Fridley and downtown Minneapolis.
Stay in touch with Fridley station and other Northstar
Project construction activities by visiting www.MN-GetOnBoard.com. Send an e-mail if you
have specific questions about construction at Fridley or other
stations.
I hope you can join us as we celebrate the construction of
the Fridley station and the state's first commuter rail line.
Let's get ready to ride the line!
