Greetings,

Northstar Commuter Rail's first locomotive has rolled off the production line. It's another visible sign that we should "get ready to ride the line in 2009!"

Representatives from the Northstar Corridor Development Authority and Northstar project staff traveled to Boise, Idaho last week to take an inaugural ride on the completed locomotive and to tour Motive Power Inc. facilities, where Northstar's four other locomotives are in various stages of production. The event was a celebration of tangible results, made possible thanks to the continued support of Northstar supporters like you.

See additional photos of the new locomotive by clicking here.

Northstar has ordered a total of five remanufactured locomotives that will provide service beginning in late 2009. The locomotives will arrive at the vehicle maintenance facility in Big Lake this fall. Workers are continuing to install train tracks and complete interior work at the maintenance facility, where fueling, cleaning and routine maintenance of the locomotives will occur.

We'll continue to let you know about further progress on the locomotives, passenger cars and other aspects of the project. Watch for more exciting news soon!

Sincerely,

Dan Erhart
