NO Off-Highway Vehicle Parks in New Jersey!!!!
The New Jersey State Senate and the New Jersey State Legislature are moving to pieces of Off-Highway Vehicle legislation forward that will have a HUGE impact on New Jersey's Off-Highway Vehicle community. One is for a mandatory Off-Highway Vehicle registration and insurance program which will be done at the point of sale. And the second is for ONE Off-Highway Vehicle park for New Jersey's more than 250,000 OHV enthusiast. Now here's the problem, While the registration legislation is a good first step, the OHV park bill is full of problems and gives the NJDEP a HUGE opportunity to just walk away from ever delivering the promised OHV park that is part of this bill should they not find a suitable location. While NJOHVA applauds the concept of both the OHV registration program and a OHV PARKS program there's a huge problem with the state not delivering the THREE OHV parks that they promised us back in 2003 when then NJDEP Commissioner mandated 2 New OHV Parks and one replacement for the one closing in Chatsworth NJ. Also many in the New Jersey State Senate will not support the OHV park legislation unless it's for a total of THREE OHV parks with one in Southern NJ, one in Central NJ and one in Northern NJ. What NJOHVA is asking you is to let the New Jersey State Senate know that you WANT THREE OHV PARKS as promised in 2003 and that you as part of New Jersey's more than 250,000 OHV enthusiast will not support an OHV registration program unless there is something in return.

Subject: S1059 IS FLAWED what happened to the 3 promised Off-Highway Vehicle Parks?
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
Currently there are two pieces of legislation being moved forward in the New Jersey Senate.
One is S1059 which is the Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Park bill and the other is S2055 which is the OHV registration bill.
While I applaud the idea of both these bills, S1059 the Off-Highway Vehicle Park bill is flawed and not at all what was promised by the NJDEP commissioner in 2003.
Not just that, but it provides NJDEP with an opportunity of not providing any OHV park... should they not find a suitable property or location for such a park.
My concern is that both of these bills must be tied to one and another for New Jersey's OHV community to support them and if one doesn't happen then the other doesn't happen.
As one of your constituents as well as a member of New Jersey's more than 250,000 OHV community I urge you to support THREE OHV parks as many of your fellow New Jersey State Senate members are now supporting and that the OHV PARKS bill is tied to the OHV registration bill as it moves forward.
Sincerely,
|
