A-823

As you all know I have been following this bill for some time now. It started last year and we have been able to keep it at bay.We had been under the impression that Assm. Gusciora wanted to hear what we had to say and wanted our input. So on Friday 6/6/08  the Assemblyman's chief of staff emailed me the committee substitute and he asked for feedback. Well low and behold I get an email Tuesday saying it is on Thursdays 6/12/08 agenda. We must stop this bill and let the committee and the full assembly know we are very upset about this back door type of politics.WE MUST DO THIS NOW ALL OF US..........

Subject: UNFAIR TREATMENT(A-823)

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing you today about the UNFAIR TREATMENT OF OHV Users,i.e. (ATV, motorcycle and snowmobile) We have asked you the legislator for years to provide a safe and legal venue for our families to recreate, but all we get is special interest groups who do not like our form of recreation manipulating some legislators to create such a web of bias laws(as in A-823) that we will need to take our families to another state to spend our recreation dollars and to enjoy what we do. These legislators feel they can unfairly tax and dramatically raise fees and fines on our user group, but we will not stand idly by and allow that to happen. This is a preposterous proposal. The registration fees as written presently are ATV`s are $ 17.00, Motorcycles are $ 31.50 and Snowmobiles are $ 12.00. A-823 raise these registration fees to$ 50.00 for all three vehicles. To emphasize the bias against this user group they propose a $ 25.00 lost or replacement certificate fee although all other vehicles including cars remain $ 5.00 and this user group still is not allowed to use their vehicles anywhere in the state of NJ. I ask you is this a fair proposal. Absolutely not!!!!

Sincerely,
