Every day, more New Yorkers are speaking out about the proposal to permit risky natural gas drilling ("hydrofracking") in NYC's water supply. As even the Chair of Chesapeake Energy, a company with drilling rights there, said to the New York Times, "How could any one well be so profitable that it would be worth damaging the New York City water system?"

But we still have an uphill battle to protect New York's water supply.

Shortly after you sent thousands letters about the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) withholding funds, the PSC announced plans to distribute $166 million to fund energy efficiency programs. However, details of what will be funded have not yet been released.

New MTA Chief joins push for using cameras to enforce bus lanes

An important step to maximize the efficiency of our city's buses and enforce traffic laws – cameras would take pictures of vehicles blocking bus lanes and unfairly delaying bus riders. Similar to the city's red light cameras, the new cameras would mean automatic tickets for this traffic violation.
