After Climate Week Winds Down, It's Time for PSC
to Ramp Up
Last week in New York City was Climate Week
– an opportunity to raise awareness about the local and
global threats of a changing climate. All over the city, New
Yorkers took action against climate change. But even as we
acted, the Public Service Commission did not. The PSC
still isn't investing tax dollars it collected to reduce NYC's
electricity consumption and carbon emissions.

New York City conducts an annual greenhouse gas emissions
inventory. 2008 data was just released, showing a decrease of
3.5 percent below 2007 levels despite growth in population and
building stock. The City is on track to achieve PlaNYC's
overarching goal of a 30 percent reduction in citywide
greenhouse gas emissions below 2005 levels by
2030.
