Want a better commute?

Think your commute is bad now? Every year, more people are moving to New York City which means more people sharing your subway, bus or road. Something must be done before our transportation system grinds to a screeching halt. We need a plan that makes public transportation faster and more reliable, as well as cuts traffic and reduces air pollution and global warming emissions.

Ask the Traffic Congestion Mitigation Commission to a choose a traffic plan that reduces traffic, cuts commute times, funds public transportation and is fair to New Yorkers across all neighborhoods and economic levels.

Subject: Please recommend a plan that reduces traffic and improves transit

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing to urge you to adopt a traffic plan that will make our city ready for the one million new residents moving to New York in the next 25 years. Please recommend a plan that:

* Achieves real traffic reductions - reductions at least as great as the Mayor's initial congestion pricing proposal

* Cuts commute times by improving bus and subway service and unclogging roads

* Creates a reliable stream of funding for public transit

* Qualifies the city for hundreds of millions in federal funding by using a pricing strategy

* Reduces air pollution

* Treats city residents across all neighborhoods and of all economic levels fairly

* Puts New York on the path to leadership in the fight against global warming

In order to make our city a great place to live and work, we need a plan that does ALL of these things.

Sincerely,
