Speed Up Video Choice in Massachusetts!

Verizon recently filed a petition with the Cable Division of Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Energy (DTE) to accelerate cable TV competition in the Commonwealth.  The proposal calls for a shorter and more predictable time frame for new competitors to obtain franchises to offer video services in Massachusetts communities.

If the proposal is adopted, thousands of Massachusetts customers will experience faster cable competition and new video choices.

Why this proposal, and why now?  The world has changed.  Technology is moving at warp speed, and new companies now have the ability to offer cable TV over fiber optic connections directly to the home.  Moreover, consumers want this new technology.

Verizon research found that 87% of Massachusetts consumers want more competition and choice for their video services.  In fact, cable prices have increased 85 percent over the past 10 years because there has been no real competition.   And, independent studies have shown that competition in the video market leads to average price reductions of 23%, better television packages and improved service.

Verizon is excited about bringing more choice for cable TV to Massachusetts consumers, and your support is vital to the effort.  For more information, please contact Stephanie Lee at 978-374-1205.  We appreciate your interest.

Thank you!
