Verizon is bringing the most advanced fiber optic network in the nation directly to the doors of homes in Newton.  Our FiOS network contains enough bandwidth to offer video, Internet and voice services.  

Verizon has been working with Mayor David Cohen and the Cable Advisory Committee on an agreement to offer FiOS TV.  The City has scheduled a public hearing on Thursday, December 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Druker Auditorium, Newton Free Public Library, 330 Homer St. to discuss Verizon's petition and FiOS TV offering.  We hope that you can attend to voice your support.

Verizon is eager to offer consumers in Newton a superior choice for cable TV.  If you are interested in more competition, please send an email directly to Mayor Cohen to let him know you want cable choice and to thank him for his leadership in bringing consumers another alternative.  A sample letter is provided for your convenience.  Please add personal information and comments to customize your letter, if you prefer.

Verizon will not only offer residents another alternative to cable, but will provide us with an outstanding alternative over its advanced fiber optic network.

The City of Newton has been a pioneer in fostering the spirit of cable competition. With the addition of Verizon's video service, we will be among the few municipalities in Massachusetts to provide consumers with three options for cable TV.
