I am writing to express my support for HB 377. The measure would establish a state Earned Income Credit to complement the Commonwealth's existing Tax Forgiveness program. With strong bipartisan support from Republican and Democratic governors and legislators, Pennsylvania's existing Tax Forgiveness program has been a valuable tool for easing the tax burden on low-income working families. You have an opportunity to enhance this tool by teaming it with an Earned Income Credit. Together, these programs will reward work and help lift low-income working families out of poverty. With the exception of a proposal to phase in the proposal, I ask you to reject all amendments.
