Congregations press UVM to build affordable housing
Vermont Interfaith Action

More than 200 people from Vermont Interfaith Action gathered at Ohavi Zedek Synagogue in Burlington, VT to press the University of Vermont (UVM) to create more affordable housing for lower wage university employees and entry level professors. Burlington is experiencing a severe shortage of affordable housing. Having the university commit to building more housing is critical to easing the housing shortage in the greater Burlington community. VIA leaders met with UVM President Daniel Fogel a week before the meeting at Ohavi Zedek.  Fogel promised to make progress on the affordable housing issue raised by VIA but declined to attend the meeting.  VIA leaders vowed to continue pressing UVM to do its share to improve housing opportunities in Burlington.
