Richmond City Council unanimously passed a revitalization agenda crafted by youth leaders and residents from Contra Costa Interfaith Sponsoring Community Organization (CCISCO). The city will provide $1.2 million in new funding for year-round youth recreation programs, which will be developed with input from youth leaders. The City also agreed to begin a new Blight Abatement program for the Iron Triangle neighborhood, including new street lighting and special trash clean-up; and to establish a new policy to increase policing resources to high-crime areas, which will result in a higher percentage of new police hires will be assigned to the Iron Triangle neighborhood. CCISCO kicked off its campaign to revitalize the Iron Triangle Neighborhood in March 2006 at a large public meeting attended by 300 people and kept the pressure up over the past year and half, including a large public meeting in June 2007.
