Bayou Interfaith Shared Community Organizing (BISCO) and Louisiana Interfaith Together (LIFT) leaders, along with many other organizations inside and outside Louisiana, are celebrating the passage of historic legislation. The Deep Ocean Energy Resources (DOER) Act will give Louisiana a substantial share of royalties from oil and natural gas drilling off the state's coast. The funds, which should amount to more than $13 billion over the next 30 years, will be used for coastal restoration, hurricane protection, and flood control projects. BISCO and LIFT played vital roles in building support for this important legislation. Contact Sharon Gauthe for more information.
