Hundreds of people from Peninsula Interfaith Action in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, CA packed the auditorium at St. Matthew Church calling on County Supervisor Jerry Hill to help develop a plan for county-wide healthcare coverage for low-income adults. As a result of this action, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors voted (16-1), on July 26, to make the expansion of health insurance a priority for the county, creating a Blue Ribbon Committee for Adult Health Care and allocating $200,000 for the committee’s work to explore the cost of insuring the county’s 87,000 uninsured adults and identify revenue sources to pay for it.
