Action Center
CFS collects personal information from visitors when they register to take action on an issue using our "Take Action" service, including first and last name, e-mail address, state, and zip code. The contact information provided will be used to alert visitors about issues, updates and opportunities. This information is not shared with, or sold to, other organizations for commercial purposes. However, your statement to decision makers, along with personal information you voluntarily provide, will be forwarded by e-mail to those addresses listed.

Please note: Comments submitted to government agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), are considered to be public information. Personal contact information you provide will be placed in a public docket and may also be placed on the agency's website and made available through the Internet in accordance with the provisions of the Electronic Freedom of Information Act. All of the information supplied in the correspondence, including addresses, phone numbers, signatures, and other identifiers, will be placed in the docket.

Submissions to a docket are part of the administrative record that government agencies use to make a decision. All submissions are public and may be viewed in the Dockets Management Branch public reading room. If you have any questions about the FDA's handling of public comments, please direct them to the Docket's Management Branch by calling 301-827-6860. The EPA's Docket Center can be contacted at 202-566-1744.

Cookies
Cookies are pieces of information that are stored on your computer and are used for record keeping purposes.  We use cookies to make visiting and using our website easier, for example, the feature in our "take action" center that allows the system to populate your information is a function of cookies. If you ever have problems with our system not remembering you (and forcing you to re-enter information you know we already have), please make sure "cookies" are enabled on your computer.

Financial Transactions
To process a charitable contribution or product purchase, it is necessary for CFS to gather the visitor's name, email address, mailing address, and credit card information. This data is used to verify identity and execute the financial transaction. Additionally, email address information may be used to contact visitors if there is a problem with the transaction.

CFS uses Convio (www.convio.com) as a service provider for the purpose of conducting financial transactions. Convio uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt all data submitted to and from our site over the web. SSL renders donors' personal information, including credit card number, virtually unreadable to anyone who intercepts it. SSL is supported by all major browsers including Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. (To find out if your browser is connected to a secure transaction server, look for a solid gold key in the lower right-hand corner of a Netscape browser. For a Microsoft browser, look for a locked padlock.)

If our privacy policy changes at some time in the future we will post the policy changes on our website to notify you of these changes. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check our website periodically.
