The short explanation of this alert was: People of faith overwhelmingly support federal policies to cover America's uninsured children.  But we have to make sure that our voices are heard in the media and in Washington, DC.  The successful State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) ends on September 30, but President Bush and some in Congress are opposing the funding needed to keep SCHIP going and to strengthen the program to reach 5 million uninsured children.  PICO invites you to use this page to send a personal letter-to-the-editor to raise awareness of the opportunity we have this year to make sure that no child goes without treatment or relies on an emergency room for their health care.
