The short explanation of this alert was:
We are asking that you help us capture the President's attention by sending a message to President Bush telling him that the international community is watching, and that we MUST NOT let the atrocities in Darfur continue.
When you send your letter to the President, copies will automatically be sent to the Vice President, Secretary of State Rice, and the U.N. Ambassador John Bolton.
Together we are urging that the President:
* Push for immediate deployment of the already-authorized UN peacekeeping force.
* Strengthen the understaffed African Union force already in Darfur until the UN force is deployed.
* Implement a fair and lasting Peace Agreement.
* Increase humanitarian aid and ensure access for delivery.
We know you have sent letters before, and we are grateful for your abiding concern and action. However, NOW is a crucial time - an opportunity we must seize. Please take action, continue to pray for those in Darfur, and let others know about this action.
