Recent outbreaks of violence between Israel and Gaza and now Lebanon have compelled people of every faith to ask why the U.S. is assuming such a passive stance. While the G8 has recently issued a statement calling for restraint, the White House has historically played a pivotal role in negotiating a hands-on peace agreement between Israel and its neighbors.
Religious leaders of every faith are crying out for peace. The National Council of Churches, FaithfulAmerica.org's sponsoring organization, has issued a statement calling for a return to the pursuit of understanding through peaceful means and for the U.S. to lead the way in making it happen. We invite you to read it, and then take action.
Please use this page to write a letter to President Bush urging him to step up immediately and help to quell the violence and restore peace between Israel and Gaza and Israel and Lebanon.
