This coming November, Washington residents will be asked to vote on Referendum 67, an important consumer protection ballot measure that would help ensure that insurance companies treat consumers fairly.
Washington laws put the burden on consumers to cooperate with insurance companies or their claims will be denied. However, there's no penalty for insurance companies that are not dealing fairly with consumers. Referendum 67 will require insurance companies to act responsibly and to pay reasonable and legitimate claims in a timely manner.
