Tell Penske to Help Stop Global Warming

Roger Penske, the CEO of America's second largest network of automobile dealerships, has a big decision to make this week. He's going to join RAN and become a vocal advocate pushing the auto industry to help stop global warming, or he's going to keep on doing nothing in the face of catastrophic climate change.

Tell him to make the right choice.

Send him a letter and tell him that the public needs leaders in every sector who are willing to be bold and to take strong action. If he makes the right choice, tell him he'll have your support.

The automakers need to hear from their biggest customers, the dealerships, that it is past time to start producing plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and to dramatically increase fuel efficiency across the board.

Last year RAN supporters convinced AutoNation, the largest network of dealerships, to become a fuel efficiency advocate.

Do the right thing. This week you received a letter asking you to become an advocate for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and better fuel efficiency. As the CEO of the nation's second largest automotive retailer, you are in a unique position to influence automakers and industry leaders.

My message to you is simple: Make the right choice.

I urge you to accept the invitation offered by Rainforest Action Network and start using your influence to push the auto industry towards building more efficient cars and helping to stop global warming and reduce our dependence on oil.

Your biggest competitor has already taken a proactive stance on the issue. You can too.

Our country consumes over 25 percent of the world's oil, yet we make up less than 5 percent of the world's population. Transportation alone accounts for over 70 percent of America's oil consumption.  Oil dependence pollutes our air and water, destroys our climate, degrades our forests, and pushes our nation to be involved in military conflicts in oil-rich regions.

This week you can become part of the solution. We need leaders in every sector if we're going to stop the worst consequences of global warming. I want you to be one of those leaders.

So please join with RAN, and the public, in taking bold action to address the climate crisis. It is good for the planet, good for America, and good for your business.
