I am writing to urge you to support the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and oppose any efforts to weaken this important environmental law.

A strong NEPA is necessary to ensure that the public continues to have opportunities to provide meaningful and informed input on federal projects. NEPA guarantees that the government "looks before it leaps" prior to proceeding with major federal actions that impact the environment, by mandating that it submits proposed major federal projects to environmental and public health reviews. Further, it requires agencies to involve the public in its decisions and provide opportunities to comment.

Unfortunately, NEPA has been weakened over the last few years through various agency rulemakings and legislation. These attacks on NEPA have resulted in the public losing its ability to voice concerns with decisions that impact the environment, the health of their families, and their qualify of life.  The attacks have also curtailed agencies' review and analysis of environmentally damaging activities.

I elected you to protect our communities and safeguarding NEPA is an essential part of that protection! Please stand up for this bedrock environmental law and oppose any attempts to further weaken NEPA.
