Put Mitch McConnell on Notice
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has used his position to shut down debate in the Senate on key issues, or as leverage to add benefits to bills for well-heeled special interests. Last fall, voters demanded Congress do something about pay-to-play politics, but McConnell continues to oppose efforts to clean up elections, and will continue to use his power to help wealthy interests like the pharmaceutical companies, big oil, and the credit card industry—all at the expense of average Americans.

It’s time to put McConnell on notice. Sign our petition and tell him enough is enough.

Full Petition Text:

Already as Minority Leader of the U.S. Senate, you have held up a vote on ethics and lobbying reform, forced billions in tax breaks for big businesses to be added to a minimum wage bill, and stopped a debate on the war in Iraq. In addition, you have proposed repealing every campaign finance reform law ever passed, including the elimination of the presidential public financing system.

As other important issues come forward, like prescription drugs, energy policy, and economic issues, I am concerned that you will weigh the needs of your high dollar contributors over those of constituents in Kentucky as well as voters all over the country.

I urge you to put the concerns of all Americans before those of a narrow few who fund your campaigns.
