Millions of innocent Iraqis have been forced to flee horrific violence: a girl whose father was killed in stray crossfire, a traumatized boy who watched his schoolmate blown to pieces by a hidden bomb, a teacher whose son has been kidnapped.
We can help them by adding our voices together. This pledge is a joint campaign of the International Rescue Committee, the Education for Peace in Iraq Center, and other partner organizations responding to the needs of Iraqi families who are displaced or affected by violence in Iraq.
WE BELIEVE that the people of Iraq and the United States are interconnected by events over the past five years, and that far more is needed to help Iraqi families who are displaced or otherwise affected by violence in Iraq. WE CALL ON President Bush, Members of Congress, and presidential candidates to do far more to: * Strengthen humanitarian assistance to the region; * Support effective relief, peacebuilding, and community-based development in Iraq; and * Increase U.S. admissions and expedite resettlement of vulnerable Iraqi refugees.WE COMMIT ourselves to help millions of Iraqis in need of humanitarian relief and protection and to make a better, safer world for the people of Iraq and the United States.[Your name] [Your address]
