The Streamlined Procedures Act, legislation to gut federal review of criminal cases and undermine the Innocence Protection Act, is under consideration by the Senate Judiciary Committee and is scheduled for a hearing Wednesday, November 16th, at 9:30am! The bill is designed to speed up executions, but would lead to more errors in the criminal justice system and increase the risk of wrongful convictions. If you live in CA, DE, IL, KS, MA, NY, OH, PA, SC, VT or WI, it is critical that you ask your senator, who is a member of the Judiciary Committee, to oppose this short-sighted legislation. Fax a letter to your senator TODAY!
