Thanks to the hard work of millions of activists around the country, the House and Senate have passed legislation to reauthorize the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP or just plain CHIP) for five years. At the urging of advocates and many Governors, Congress included $35 billion NEW federal dollars so CHIP could reach out and enroll more than 4 million additional uninsured children.
The bill has been vetoed by President Bush, but the fight continues. Millions of kids are counting on us.
