Campaign Unavailable

We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Public Campaign Action Fund and Public Campaign.

The short explanation of this alert was:

Reuters reported that after the House and Senate negotiated the energy bill, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay apparently inserted a provision to give $1.5 billion to a consortium of oil companies based in his district, including Dick Cheney's former employer Halliburton. The provision was discovered by Rep. Henry Waxman, D-California.

Send the email below to tell your member of Congress that you want this provision removed from the energy bill immediately. Is your member of Congress going to stand up for taxpayers or support Tom DeLay's corporate special interest agenda?

UPDATE, Thursday, July 28: Bill already passed the House. The Senate will take up the measure tomorrow. We've changed the email so you can email your Senator.

UPDATE 2, Friday, July 29: Unfortunately, the Senate passed the bill without removing the DeLay provision.
