The scandals that surrounded John Rowland are only symptoms of a system that operates on an unfair playing field, favoring big campaign contributors and lobbyists over voters.

State leaders have an opportunity to enact a system of fair and clean elections, similar to those in Arizona and Maine, which allows candidates to spend more time with voters instead of lobbyists and big campaign donors.

There are currently two campaign finance reform bills in the legislature. It’s important that legislators hear from you urging them to vote in support of the two bills. Both bills include public financing, a vital component needed to put the ownership of our elections back into the hands of the voters. 

However, special interests benefit from the current system and they’ll work hard to defeat this!
