We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit New York's Future. The short explanation of this alert was:
Myth: Congestion pricing is unfair and it will hurt most New Yorkers, especially the working middle class and those of low-income.
Fact: Congestion pricing will benefit low-income and middle class New Yorkers the most!
Myth: Congestion pricing will only benefit Manhattan, while traffic in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island will grow worse.
Fact: Congestion pricing will reduce traffic citywide, particularly in neighborhoods adjacent to the congestion pricing zone.
Myth: The funds raised by congestion pricing won't go to transit. Instead they will be spent on other projects or disappear into the MTA's coffers.
Fact: The Traffic Congestion Mitigation Commission recommended that funds raised by congestion pricing be placed in a transit "lockbox" within the MTA and that these funds be subject to a new level of accountability and transparency.
Show your support for a plan that will keep New York moving. Sign this petition demanding a congestion pricing plan that will reduce traffic, cut commute times, and fund public transportation across all neighborhoods.
