In light of the Supreme Court's ruling which blocks military tribunals for detainees at the U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the time has come for President Bush to bring an end to the barbaric, unlawful, unending, and shameful treatment of human beings at Guantanamo. The action by the high court, the recent news of the tragic suicides of three detainees, and the many admonitions by leaders around the world, all support this action.
Detaining persons without cause, denying due process in a court of law, and ignoring worldwide concerns about the inhumane treatment of detainees are acts one would expect of terrorists – not the President of the United States as leader of the free world.
We are urging every person of faith and conscience to sign the petition below, calling for President Bush to close the detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba once and for all.
