The short explanation of this alert was:
 Global warming is one of the biggest threats facing humanity today. It is not just an environmental crisis, but also a moral one. All of our religious traditions have a mandate to care for and to be good stewards of creation. Yet that creation is threatened by our unsustainable use of fossil fuels for energy. Recognizing this, The Regeneration Project called a high-level summit of religious leaders in San Francisco in April of 2007. The declaration below is the result of that gathering.
We invite clergy and religious leaders of all faiths to join this effort by signing the petition today.
