Make Early Education THE Issue in 2010!
The Texas Governor's race is already underway, and it's up to us to ensure that high-quality early education is on all of the candidates' minds when they ask for our votes. Supporters of high-quality early education come from all parties and all political affiliations. Most Texas leaders know that supporting young learners is a smart decision for our state and our communities. Now that the elections are upon us, it's important that we remind our gubernatorial candidates about the importance of early education.
A growing body of research tells us that a high-quality early childhood education is invaluable to a child's development and opportunity for success later in life. Since 85% of human brain development occurs before age 5, it is critical that young children are able to expereince safe, nurturing, and educationally stimulating environments during this crucial developmental period. Please send our candidates for Governor the letter below, asking them "How will you support high-quality early learning in Texas?" This will help us spread the word about the importance of high-quality early education, and you can use the candidate responses to the question to inform your voting decisions. It’s important that we get these important messages out to candidates now, before they take office. Let's make high-quality early education THE issue in 2010!
