We're sorry, this alert is no longer available.
The short explanation of this alert was:
Verizon is bringing the most advanced fiber optic network in the nation directly to the doors of homes in Middleton. Our FiOS network contains enough bandwidth to offer video, Internet and voice services to all Middleton residents in the very near future. However, to take advantage of FiOS TV, in addition to FiOS Internet and phone service, the Board of Selectmen must grant Verizon a cable TV license.
Middleton town officials held a public hearing on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 to discuss Verizon's petition for a license. The Board of Selectmen will reconvene soon to vote on the license.
Once a license is issued, Middleton residents will join consumers in more than 80 other Massachusetts communities who have FiOS TV as a superior choice for cable service. If you are interested in more cable competition and everything our FiOS technology offers, please send an email directly to the town officials asking them move quickly through the cable TV licensing process. A sample letter is provided for your convenience. Please add personal information and comments to customize your letter, if you prefer.
