The short explanation of this alert was:
The Rev. William Sloane Coffin died on Wednesday at 81. His legacy of faithful activism, courage, insight, and devotion will long be remembered. Whether standing for Civil Rights, opposing the war in Vietnam, or speaking on behalf of an ailing planet, Dr. Coffin's life was, and will forever be, a standard by which moral courage is measured.
How did Bill Coffin inspire you? Whether through a writing, a sermon, an act of courage, or other recollection, we invite you to "write a letter to Bill" sharing your thoughts, feelings, or remembrance. FaithfulAmerica will share some of these letters online, compile them into a book of remembrance and present them to his widow, Virginia Randolph Wilson.
Please use the space provided below. Your letter will automatically be addressed and sent. Your letter will begin with "Dear Bill:"
Bill Coffin was honorary chairperson of FaithfulAmerica. With his passing comes a renewed commitment to honor the prophet Micah's call: "What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God?" (Micah 6:8)
