The short explanation of this alert was:

Myanmar cyclone damage
Photo: Gordon Bacon/The IRC

The cyclone that devastated parts of Myanmar has killed tens of thousands of people and left more than two million survivors in urgent need of medical care, clean water, shelter and food. The IRC and other humanitarian organizations are overcoming logistical challenges and other barriers and providing aid to survivors as quickly as possible — but we need a massive and timely infusion of funding to prevent more deaths due to lack of safe water in cyclone-ravaged districts.

Congress is considering an emergency spending bill that will include humanitarian assistance funding for many parts of the world. It is critical that this bill include specific, multi-year funding for the victims of the cyclone in Myanmar that is over and above the necessary aid to other humanitarian crises.

Please speak up by sending this message to urge your Senators and Representatives to provide emergency funding for Myanmar cyclone victims.
