Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. The short explanation of this alert was: The Issue Isn't there enough money in politics? Apparently our state legislators don't think so. Our legislators are fast tracking SB 2204 which contains a bad section that would lift the $1,000 cap on the total amount of money corporations can give during each election. Corporations would be able to give to as many candidates they wish, at $2,000 to $6,000 a pop. So instead of giving $1,000, each corporation could give more than $260,000. These bills increase the campaign money flow from special interests, make Hawaii's campaign laws even more obsolete, and drown any chance for ordinary citizens to make a difference through their participation.
Legislators say they are "clarifying" the law, and they never intended to put such a limit on corporate donations. But we
urge our legislators to do the right thing by reducing the influence of corporate money in our political system
