Dear Member,

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that there will not be a complete freeze on settlement building. His stance means that the Israeli government has publicly resisted President Obama's insistence that Israel implement exactly such a freeze. Now more than ever, the President needs to hear from us that the majority of the American Jewish community stands behind him in his historic push for Israeli-Palestinian peace. Please continue to help Brit Tzedek bring this message of support to the President and the public.

President Obama made clear from the opening days of his presidency that he would do everything possible to shepherd a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. But neither side has taken the steps needed.

Media reports have focused on U.S. demands toward the Israeli government, but the Obama administration is also holding the Palestinians accountable; in fact, such accountability is a key element of U.S. policy. The President has been quite clear about his demands of the Palestinians, among them that the Palestinian Authority must be more committed to securing its side of the border from threats to Israel. He has furthermore been absolutely unequivocal in his denunciations of terrorism. For all of his clarity, he still faces enormous resistance. Brit Tzedek is helping him stand up to the flak and we need your continued support.

For seven years, Brit Tzedek has been showing that supporting Israel means working for a viable peace. Now is when our voice -- your voice -- can most make an impact. Please renew your membership today. Your membership donation makes our work possible.

Brit Tzedek takes action, and has been effective. Members of Congress -- including an ever increasing number of Jewish members -- sign resolutions and letters that we advocate for. We are quoted over and over again in the Jewish press. We bring speakers to the Jewish community, and we have forged strong relations with members of Congress. Brit Tzedek matters, and is needed more than ever. Help make it possible for us to do our work.

Your past support of Brit Tzedek has been invaluable. It allowed us to gather the signatures of over 1,000 rabbis, cantors, and rabbinical students calling for active U.S. diplomacy in the region. And it has contributed to the changed atmosphere in the Jewish community and in Congress. Now we need to build on these successes.

Will you continue to strengthen our efforts to mobilize public support for strong leadership for peace from the Administration and Congress? Please renew your membership today.

As America's largest and most vibrant grassroots Jewish peace organization, we need your support to rally the Jewish community behind pro-peace initiatives, and counter the efforts of those who are opposing the President's efforts.

Brit Tzedek's voice is recognized and respected by our elected officials and by national leaders in the Jewish community. If we work together, we can make a huge difference.

Do not delay.  Please renew today at: https://npo.networkforgood.org/Donate/Donate.aspx?npoSubscriptionId=1000771&code=renewal_20090914

Thank you for continuing to stand with us.

Sincerely,

Steve Masters
President
